Montgomery County SwimLeague

Representatives Meeting

Minutes of July 12, 2001

Call to Order:   Carol Nickel called the meeting to order at8:05pm.

Automation: Mike Lincoln will request that all results for Divisionals  be
sent to him by
2:00 on the day of the meet in order to prepare seedings for
All Stars.  Please be sure to send scratches for you swimmers as soon as
they are known. There were several empty lanes at LC due to swimmers not
scratching ahead of time. Next season we will be going to the windows platform
of meet manager for all teams.  This winter we will decide how to distribute
the upgrade costs between the league and each team. The minimum hardware
requirements necessary to run the windows platform next season are 64MB Ram
and a processor with a speed of at least 300MHZ..

Please remember to send in your divisions recommended officials for All Stars
on Saturday after Divisionals. Please E mail your officials list along with
which team the officials are from and their phone # to Bill Ferguson at
Ferg2b@aol.com
or to Jim Garner at Garner@Erols.com or Competition@MCSL.org

Awards: Tracey Glass reported approximately 800 swimmers will attend the
MCSL Six Flags Day. Tickets are still available if your team would like
to attend.  E mail Tracey at awards@MCSL.org if you have questions.  Missed
awards for LC will be distributed after the rep meeting.

Rules: There have been three protests to date, all in Division M.  The rules
committee will meet after the rep meeting to rule on the protests.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct:  In order to eliminate the continuation
of unsportsmanlike conduct at our invitational meets, the league policy
will be:  Any conduct deemed to be unsportsmanlike in nature (at the discretion
of the rules committee) will ban the competitor from the meet and will ban the
competitor from all invitational meets for the remainder of the season. If the
behavior is at All Stars, the results from any earlier swims will be voided
and if deemed appropriate by the rules committee, sanctions may be imposed the
next season.

All Stars Please remind your parents that parking will cost $1.  This cost
will defray the expense for the personnel needed to monitor the lots.

President Report:  Carol Nickel will reiterate the league policy of how to
treat thunder and lightening at a swim meet. The Iona Brown nominations need
to be received this month.  Carol brought up the problem of a rain date for
LC.  The league will discuss that problem this winter.

Iona Brown Award:  We are taking nominations for the Iona Brown Award that is
given annually at the All Star meet. The award is for any rep or individual
that has provided outstanding service to the team and division in which they
serve.  Please E mail your nominations and the reasons why they should be
considered for the award to Carol Nickel at admin@mcsl.org

Lightening:  Several questions have been raised concerning the leagues
policy concerning thunder and lightening.  The leagues position is to abide by
the decision of the pool manager at each pool.  The pool managers are trained
to handle these decisions and are responsible for enforcing the safety of the
facility. Detailed thoughts on thunder and lightening are also in the
meet management handbook.

Adjournment andnext meeting:  The meeting was adjourned at
8:35 PM.  The next
meeting will be held at the Executive Office Building Cafeteria on Thursday
September13, 2001 at
8:00pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Bill Ferguson
Secretary
