President – Sally MacKenzie
(President@MCSL.org)
- At
April meeting, divisions will meet to decide locations for divisional
meets. Things to consider when selecting location for divisional meets
include parking, 8-lane pool, pool depth, neighborhood time and/or noise
constraints, and spectator/deck space. Also be sure not to schedule
divisionals or relay carnival on a night that would conflict with B meets,
dive meets, or possibly PVS club meets if your teams have year-round
swimmers. (PVS schedule may be checked at www.PVswim.org)
- Board
also asks each division to appoint a publicity liaison this summer to help
with 50th anniversary promotion.
50th
anniversary – Sally MacKenzie (President@MCSL.org) & Pam Ambrose (Pam.Ambrose@montgomerycountymd.gov)
- Teams are
encouraged to submit at least one nomination for 50th
Anniversary Hall of Fame as soon as possible to Pam.
- 50th
anniversary logo has been selected and is a combination of designs
submitted by Lois Morris of Capital Sport & Swim and Morgan Hurley of
Manor Woods. Logo art file (.pdf) will be posted on website & emailed
to reps with the March minutes in hopes that it will be incorporated into divisional
t-shirts, and other items.
- 50th
anniversary Facebook page now established and already has 56 members To
join the Facebook group, people need to first join Facebook at
www.facebook.com. Then they can
search for the MCSL 50th anniversary group and join. If they have trouble

- Banners
will be provided to the 10 teams who participated in the first official
year of the league (1959). While the League is 50 years old this summer,
the All Star meet will actually be the 51st, as 6 teams
participated in the first All Star meet in the summer of 1958, prior to
the League’s formation. If your team is one of the original 10 and you
have one of the banners that was distributed for the 40th year
anniversary, please contact Sally.
- Dave
Coyne, member of the 50th anniversary committee, is seeking contact
information on multi-generational family participants with at least 1
current swimmer for inclusion in press releases to be distributed
regarding anniversary. Send contact info to Dave Coyne at swimteamrep@glenwoodpool.org
