MCSL Reps Meeting of 10 May 2007

 Meeting Minutes

President:

·      President Jim Garner called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm at the Montgomery County Executive Building Cafeteria. Teams not represented at the meeting were CCR, DF, G,  MO, O, and TW. Jim invited Reps to pick up their information packages prior to their departure.

·       Jim introduced a representative from Colorado Systems who provided a demonstration of their new wireless stop watch electronic timing system. Jim opined that is too late in the 2007 MCSL season to begin using the system within our league. He advised the Reps that PVS will also be evaluating the system.

·      Jim invited representatives of Dream Dinners, Crown Trophy, and A Sign Store to make presentations to the MCSL Reps who advised that they had included brochures and price sheets in the Reps’ information packages.

o       Manchester Farms announced they will sponsor a Mini-Meet on Sunday, 15 July for swimmers age 9 and unders. King Farms and Kemp Mill also announced their Mini-Meet scheduled for 4 July. Both will include stroke events and kick boards. Reps were invited to see the teams’ websites for details.

o       Ethan Bassett gave a presentation regarding last year’s fundraiser, “Plunge for Lungs” in which six teams (138 swimmers) participated, raising over $10,000 for the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America. Collectively participants swam about 215 miles. Ethan announced that this year, the fundraiser will benefit the Mattie JT Stepanek Foundation and go towards the King Farm Park that bares his name.

·      Jim reminded the Reps, that following the June meeting, there will be a Coaches Meeting to discuss coaching in MCSL that will be of particular interest to new coaches. All coaches are urged to attend. We need to determine which senior MCSL Coach will lead the meeting – Please e-mail Jim at president@mcsl.org.

·      Debbie Mengering requested that MCSL Reps pick up their award ribbons and announced that the Division and Relay ribbons will be available in June.

·      Linda Raab reviewed the MCSL Automation Clinics schedule. There seemed to be a miscue on the automation clinic scheduled at Quail Valley and Linda will sort it out. Otherwise the schedule is posted on the MCSL website. Linda reminded those planning to attend to be sure to download files from the website in advance of attending the clinics. She recommended that teams get on-line maintenance updates for Team Manager and Meet Manager from the Hy-Tek website. She also noted that there is no pre-registration required to attend the automation (or officials) clinics.

·      Jim closed the meeting at 8:15pm inviting MCSL Reps to pick-up their packages of MCSL Handbooks and other reference materials prior to departure.

Respectfully submitted,

Frank Magnanelli

MCSL Secretary
