MCSL TEAM REPRESENTATIVES MEETING MINUTES – 2/10/05

Call to Order: Bill Ferguson called the meeting to order at 8:05PM.

New Reps: Bill Ferguson welcomed all Reps in attendance and asked for a show of hands for “New Reps”. As last year there were many and Bill reviewed what is discussed at the Monthly meetings. The calendar indicating what is covered at each meeting is available on line at www.mcsl.org .

Introduction of Board Members: Each MCSL Board Member in attendance introduced themselves and briefly reviewed their respective duties. If you need to contact anyone on the board you can find an email address and phone number for them by going to the website and clicking on “MCSL Exec. Board”. If you are unsure who you need to contact about an issue or questions just send it to web@mcsl.org and it will find it’s way to the proper person.

Advertisers: Swim Pro and University Rho and Swim made presentations to the membership. Please utilize MCSL sponsors when possible as they help to support our league. If you know of anyone wanting to advertise in the MCSL handbook ask them to send an email to ads@mcsl.org .

Team Information: Please send in any changes to your team information. The best way to accomplish this is to go to the website, team info and find your team. Copy the information onto a word document and make corrections in Red or Bold or something obvious and send into web@mcsl.org . Be sure to check for accurate email addresses.

Officials Certification: Check the webpage under “Officials Certification”, find your team and review the status of your officials. If there is and “03” by their name they will need to re-certify this year. If you have new families join your pool from another MCSL pool make sure you let us know what pool they came from so we can correct the table accordingly. If you have any questions or corrections to what you find on the table please contact Peg Hincke at officials@mcsl.org .

Awards and Six Flags: At the May meeting you will receive your handbooks (providing you have  paid your dues and your awards. The awards are supplied only for the “A” Meets and Divisional Championship meets. If you need awards for “B” meets you may order them from Tracey Glass at awards@mcsl.org . Keep in mind you typically only need these at home meets. The date for SIX FLAGS is July 11. If you have questions about this activity please contact Tracey. There will be more reminders as we get closer.

Budget: The proposed 2005 Budget was distributed and will be voted on at the March meeting.

Transfer to a New Pool: If any or your members are thinking about transferring to a new MCSL pool or would like to transfer to yours please keep the following guidelines in mind. If transferring because of a move no notice to the board is necessary. If the swimmer(s) in question are new to competition or only swam at the “B” level last year no notice is necessary. All others should issue a letter to Jim Garner at rules@mcsl.org with their reason for requesting a transfer beginning 3/15/05 through 5/15/05.

Starting System: If you are interested in purchasing a new Colorado Infinity starting system please notify Jim Garner as early as possible. If he receives enough requests he may be able to get a discount from Colorado. Jim will have current pricing at one of the upcoming meetings.

Automation: Please start thinking about who your team and or division automation person will be. This is not a good position to be guessing about next month when Divisional Assignments are determined. Make sure you have downloaded any updates to your current team and meet manager software before attending any clinics or running meets. It is very helpful to have everyone up to date and on the same version. There will be a concerted effort at this year’s automation clinic to concentrate on how to run meets and spending less time on getting everyone’s computer running and updated. Do not upgrade to a new version only download updates. Check the website at Hy-Tekltd.com .

Officials/Automation Clinics: Dates and times are posted on the website. Make an effort to get new people out on deck. If you have members that are PVS certified in stroke & turn or starter they are automatically qualified for MCSL officiating at those positions. Just have them email their name and club team to officials@mcsl.org and we will verify with the PVS officials records. Remember, the Re-Certification Clinic for Referees in May is only for those who are already certified as referees with a certification date of “03” or “04”. This clinic is not for new referees or referees who have let their certification expire.

New Pools or Old Pools in Trouble: Please let us know of any pools interested in joining our league. Also, please let us know of any pools already in our league that may be having financial or physical plant difficulties which may cause them to miss the season. Just send us the pool name for existing teams and a pool name and contact for potential new members or the league to web@mcsl.org .

Next Meeting Thursday March 10, 2005 – Exec. Office Bldg. Cafeteria. Please wait in the hallway or outside the main doors (weather permitting) until 8PM so the board may conduct their business confidentially. Items for consideration at this meeting will be Budget, Pool Information and Dues Notices will be distributed. No rule changes will be discussed as none were submitted this off season.
