MCSL TEAM REPRESENTATIVES MEETING MINUTES 4/14/2005

Division Duties: Your division established each team’s duties at this meeting. Make sure you understand your team’s responsibilities. If you are not sure contact one of your other Division Reps and talk to them. Don’t wait until the last minute to find out you should have been working on something for your division. Please make a concerted effort this year to develop a list of officials to assist with the All-Star meets. You may not know for sure until the Divisional Meet whose swimmers will actually be in the meets and therefore willing to work but you can identify reliable and responsible officials during the course of the season. Please include Name, Phone # and email if possible on any list you are compiling. If the league can get 3 or 4 officials from each division it would be great! Experienced head timers are also invaluable.

HANDBOOKS & AWARDS: at your next meeting this Thursday May 12, be sure to have someone represent your team if you can not come yourself. The Handbooks and your Team’s A-Meet and Divisional Meet (if you are hosting) awards must be picked up at this meeting.

Sarah Auer Scholarship: If you have a swimmer or swimmers you would like to nominate for the Sarah Auer Scholarship or you would like to know more about it, please see the information on the MCSL website. Nominations need to be in by June.

Automation: Now is the time to find that computer you use at meets during the summer, especially if that is the only time you use it, and make sure it is still in good working order. That also goes for the printer(s) that you use. Do you still have ink in those cartridges? Did you lose a cable after that last meet last year? While you are at it make sure you have the most current updates for you Hy-Tek software. Do not purchase a new version just make sure your current one is up to date. You may not be very happy if you don’t do this before Thursday June 16.

Starting System: Make sure your starting system is in good working order. If it is not and you are suddenly in the market for a new starting system contact Jim Garner at rules@mcsl.org or garner@garnerjim.net and he may be able to get you a new system at a good discount. Do not wait however as Jim needs time to compile his order and get it delivered in time for the season.

B-Rep Meeting: If you are responsible for your B-Meets or just help with them you may want to attend the meeting for B-Reps at the May 12 meeting. Ideas on how to run these meets efficiently resulting in good competition for your swimmers will be discussed.

Manna Food Center: Please see the MCSL website for information if you are interested in sponsoring a food drive at one of your meets for this worthy cause.

Next Meeting: Will be this Thursday May 12, 8PM at the Executive Office Bldg. cafeteria in Rockville. Please wait outside or in the foyer with the elevators if you get there early so the Board may conclude their business. Remember, have a person there to pick up your handbooks and awards! You should also be able to pick up a copy of this year’s Meet Management Guide (Green Book).
