MCSL REPRESENTATIVES MEETING MINUTES 7/8/04

Iona Brown Nominations: Bill Ferguson explained the parameters for the award. If you have any more nominations please email them to president@mcsl.org no later than 7/17/04. Divisional Championship Saturday.

2005 Calendar: New calendar was voted on and approved. There was really only one good option for the summer of 2005. First meet 6/18/05 culminating with All-Stars 7/30&31/05. New calendar will be up on the web soon.

Coaches Long Course Meet: Information is up on the website. Be sure to see handout regarding parking issues. Very important to convey these guidelines to your membership.

All-Star Meets: Relay and Individual All-Star meet info is up on the website. Relays, section I will be first with divisions A-H. Section II divisions I-O. Section II will have the extra wildcard slot this year. This means there will be two relays from one division (whichever is next fastest after the first 7) in each relay.

Officials for All-Star Meets: Please make sure your division All-Star Official representative finds officials with kids swimming in the All-Star meets. Please submit names of officials that you feel did a good job at your dual and divisional meets. These should go to competition@mcsl.org . We will need many volunteers especially for the relay meets.

T-Shirts Coaches Long Course: If one of your swimmers receives a shirt that is either too big or too small at the Coaches Long Course meet please try to swap with another swimmer. We will do our best to match up size with gender and age group but there are always exceptions.

Six-Flags: Coming up Monday 7/12. You can still get tickets from Tracey Glass at 301-869-7712 or traceyglass@aol.com .

Relay Starts: Please ask your coaches to inform your swimmers that pushing a swimmer at the start, even if they are from your team, is not permitted. Your team could be disqualified from that event. It is unsafe and could aid the swimmer entering the pool which is illegal.

Automation: Be sure not to change the template for your Divisional Relay & Championship meets. For example, name of the meet or day of the meet. This will cause our main database to malfunction and may result in incorrect seed times being used for All-Stars.

Relay Carnival Event 5: It has been decided that event 5-mixed 8&U 100m free relay may start from either end of the pool as long as it is agreed upon by the reps within your division. This may keep you from moving your timers one more time. However, if you can not agree, the relay will start in the water at the shallow end as prescribed in the recent guidelines.

Rule Changes: If you have any suggestions for rule changes please submit them at the September meeting or email them to rules@mcsl.org .

Next Meeting: Thursday 9/9/04 at MC EOB cafeteria.
