MCSL REPRESENTATIVES MEETING
MINUTES OF
Call to Order:
Bill Ferguson called the meeting to order at
New Reps: Bill Ferguson welcomed all Reps in attendance and asked for a show of hands for “New” Reps. There were many so Bill reviewed what typically happens at the monthly meetings. The monthly calendar and much more information is available to “New” and “Old” Reps at the MCSL website www.mcsl.org .
Introduction of Board Members: Each MCSL Board Member in attendance introduced themselves and briefly reviewed their responsibilities. If you need to contact anyone on the board you can find an email address for them by going to the website and clicking on “MCSL Executive Board”. If you are not sure who to contact regarding a particular issue send an email to web@mcsl.org or any one of us and we will try to get the message to the appropriate person.
Advertisers: Four advertisers
made presentations ranging from where to buy goggles to training coaches. Teams
are reminded to utilize these vendors when possible as they help support our
league. If you know of anyone who may be interested in advertising in the
handbook please have them contact Lou Hepp at ads@mcsl.org .
Rules Re-write: The rules portion of the handbook has been re-written in an effort to better organize and clarify the information contained therein. There is a link on the website for the reps and anyone else in the league to review. Any constructive critique or corrections can be addressed to rules@mcsl.org for review by the rules committee.
Pools in Trouble: If your pool or any others you may be close to are or seem to be unsure as to whether or not they will compete in 2004 please let us know immediately so we may investigate further. The sooner we know the better we will be able to react to the situation. It was stated that Stedwick was not going to be able to compete in 2004.
Pool Change Guidelines: The
procedures and acceptable reasons for changing pools were discussed. The window
to apply for such change is
B-Meet and New Team Mentoring: Pam Ambrose and Fran Murray are willing to help if you know of a pool that may be considering entry into the MCSL. They can work with the prospective team and discern at what level they are currently competing and inform them of what they need to do to become eligible to apply for membership. Pam and Fran may also be able to assist you in finding B-meet opponents. There is also a link on the MCSL Homepage to a list of teams looking for B-meets. If you want to contact Pam or Fran you can find their email address under the Exec. Board link on the main page.
Officials and Automation Clinics:
All dates should be set no later than the April 1 meeting. Two full clinic
dates have been set at this time. Sunday June 6 and Sunday June 13,
Budget: The proposed 2004 Budget was distributed to the membership for review and will be voted on at the March meeting.
Awards and Six Flags: Tracy
Glass will be the Six Flags Sponsor again this year but is looking to train a
volunteer to take over those responsibilities. The Six Flags date has yet to be
determined.
Officials Certification: Be sure to check the link to Officials Certification which has been reorganized to reflect this year’s division line up. If your officials have a blank or 2002 as their last attended clinic they need to be notified to renew their certification this year. Make sure you have enough qualified officials to run your meets. If you feel that there is an error on the table as far as not being credited with attending a clinic please contact Peg Hincke at officials@mcsl.org or web@mcsl.org .
Update Team Info: Please update any team info changes you have as soon as you know them. It will be much easier to do this a little at a time so feel free to send now if you have it. Go to Team & Division Information on the web page to see what we currently have. Send corrections or new info to web@mcsl.org .
Meet Schedule Divisions O & N: The meet schedule for divisions O & N will not be per the table in the handbook. The schedule for these divisions should be available by the next meeting.

Rules Proposals: There were no new rules proposals recommended for consideration by the board. However, clarifications for hands location on the Back Start, Relay Exhange (no running) should be clarified in the rules re-write. Also, the statement applying to when a relay swimmer should exit the pool will be reworded to “promptly”. The goal here is not to interfere with other swimmers. The rule applying to exhibition swims qualifying for All-Stars will not be changed. Exhibition swims whether relays or individual will not count towards entry into the All-Star meets.
New Starter Machine: If you are
interested in obtaining a new Colorado Starting System please contact Jim
Garner. Be aware that he can only obtain orders for six or more units this year
so multiple teams will be in need for Jim to place an order with
