Their support helps us fund our programs.
In addition, Aimee McDonald of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation presented information about their annual swimathon fund raiser.
All Star Relays: Because we have fifteen divisions in the League, a determination was needed to decide which section of All Star Relays would have the extra division. The board determined by a coin toss that Division H would be in Section 1.
Pool depth: We have been collecting information on pool
depths. Up to this point, teams have
only been able to provide us with what the markings on their decks say the pool
depth is. Once the season is underway,
and the pools filled with water, we will be asking teams to take measurements
in the water. Details on how to do this
will be provided closer to the beginning of the season.
Treasury report: Bills are due to Jim Garner. Teams will not receive their materials in May if their bills are not paid.
Starting machines: If you are interested in purchasing starting
equipment, contact Jim Garner. We think
the prices will be: starting unit with
mike--$650; tripod--$125; extra speaker with long cord--$125. If you are interested in bringing your old
starter to the Colorado Starting System Tune-up, please give Jim your name and
email address. The date would be May 18,
but the clinic may be held in
Automation: Teams are urged to test the new software well before the season begins to be sure that it is compatible with their computer and printer. Teams will need to upgrade to Team Manager II—contact Hy-Tek through their website (hy-tekltd.com) or by phone (252-633-5111). The basic cost is $69 plus $7 shipping. When ordering Team Manager, tell Hy-Tek you are an MCSL team and give them your team name. To run these programs, you will need a computer with, at a minimum, a Pentium 300 MHZ processor and 64MB of memory. Templates will be available by May or June. There will be at least three clinics for computer training—tentative dates are May 19 and two in June. We hope to post the confirmed dates on the web in the next week or two. It is suggested that teams bring a laptop computer to the training sessions.
Web: If you have filled a coaching position that is advertised on our site, please let Bob Hincke know (web@mcsl.org) so that he can mark the position as filled. If you are still looking for a coach, you can send an ad to Bob for posting. The cost is $10.
Officials clinics: The dates for officials clinics were
announced and are posted on the web. The
advanced clinic for referee recertification is May 22,
Awards: Remember that your dues must be paid to receive your awards. Be sure that someone from your pool attends the May meeting to pick up your awards. Tracey does not want to decorate her garage with MCSL ribbons. She is also taking orders for personal best and B meet ribbons.
Six Flags: Tracey Glass is again handling tickets for the Six Flags America Swim Spectacular Day on Monday, July 15. You can order tickets by mail up to a week before the event (be sure to include the appropriate payment with your order) or you may pick them up as late as the day before at Tracey’s house. Contact Tracey for details.
B-Meets: Mike Kelley can provide limited help in matching teams that need B-meets. Email him at mentor@mcsl.org.
Division
assignments: Becca
Peck counseled teams on points to consider in choosing division
assignments. The teams then broke up in
division groupings to decide division job assignments.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held at the
