Representatives Meeting
Minutes of June 10, 1999
Call to Order: Frank Negro called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm.
Advertisers: Chuck Christianson from Classic Photography gave a presentation.
President’s Report: Frank Negro reported that paperwork and remaining awards could be picked up at the end of the meeting. He also announced that the Coaches’ Clinic and the Meet Management Clinic would be held immediately following the reps’ meeting.
Automation: Bob Hincke reported that the MCSL Web site has a new look. Team information has been updated for 1999. The Officials Certification list is still being updated. Check it out: www.millkern.com/mcsl.
Bob Palian reported that each team has been given a diskette of the Hytek Meet Manager software (last year’s version) and manuals for both TM and MM. There are also templates for 1999 on the diskette. Packets of information for the Division Automation Liaisons would be handed out at the end of the meeting.
Competition Committee: Marty Cohen reported that Aardvark will be mailing order forms to each team for tee-shirts for the Coaches’ Long Course and the All-Star meets.
Bill Ferguson reported that the Officials Clinics have been well attended. This year, the Stroke and Turn Clinic was split into a clinic for recertifying experienced Stroke and Turn Judges and a clinic for first-time Stroke and Turn Judges.
The dress code for MCSL officials will change to white tops and blue bottoms next year. This year, officials may either wear all white or blue and white. MCSL official’s shirts are no longer available from Aardvark; a plain white shirt is fine or you can order an official’s shirt from USA Swimming.
Jim Garner reported that the Colorado Tune-up Clinic was a success (about 15 people attended) and will be repeated again next year. He demonstrated the new Starting unit. Colorado will give a 10% discount on orders of 8 or more units.
Good Neighbors/B Meets: Bill Bullough reviewed a handout on the county noise ordinance. He also went over some tips for running successful B meets.
Rules Committee: Carol Nickel reported that 14 applications to change pools had been received and approved by the May 16th deadline. One late request to change pools was not approved by the board and was also not approved by the reps.
Adjournment and Next Meeting: The meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm. Paperwork was distributed and the Coaches’ and Meet Management Clinics were held. The next meeting will be July 8, 1999 at 8:00pm in the Executive Office Building Cafeteria.
