MONTGOMERY COUNTY SWIM LEAGUE

The Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL) is a non-profit organization of almost 90 swim teams at public and community pools across the county.  Over 8,000 children ages 4 to 18 and their families participate in this community-based swim program.  There are two ways you can to reach these families with your business information.  By advertising, you’ll also be supporting a volunteer program that has been bringing summer fun to Montgomery County kids for over 40 years.

Handbook

Each year, the results of the previous year’s competition, schedules for the current year, league records, rules, directory information, and other reference materials are published in a handbook of over 100 pages that is distributed to families, coaches, officials, MCSL directors, and pool representatives.  The handbook provides a constant source of information and reference data.  Many families save their handbooks from year to year to have a record of their children’s divisional and invitational swim results.  Copies of past handbooks are available for viewing in the MCSL archives at the County Historical Society.  Advertisements in the handbook offer the League a means to defray publication costs.  Rates for available handbook advertisements are as follows:

                                                            Type Spacing                          Cost

Interior Full Page                                    4” x 7”                               $300

Interior Half Page                                   4” x 3.5”                            $200

To meet our printing deadline, your approved electronic or camera-ready advertising copy and check must be received no later than March 31, 2006.  Attached is information detailing the acceptable electronic format and standards.  The handbook will be distributed at our MCSL meeting on May 11, 2006 shortly thereafter, you will receive 2 complimentary copies.

Checks should be made payable to Montgomery County Swim League and sent together with the advertising copy to:

Robert Hydorn

Montgomery Village, Maryland 20886

If you prefer to submit your ad electronically, you may send it to ads@mcsl.org.  The check should still be sent to the above address.

By advertising, you also earn the opportunity to give a brief (about 2 minute) presentation to our membership at one of our meetings on March 9, April 6, May 11, or June 8.  The meetings start at 8 p.m. and are held at the Montgomery County Executive Office Building cafeteria at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.  If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please call or email me so I can put you on our agenda.

 Sponsorship—Invitational Meets

In addition to your handbook ad, you can become a sponsor of our league-wide invitational meets: the Coaches Invitational Long Course, Individual All-Star and All-Star Relay meets.  The meets will be held on July 11 and 29 and 30 this year.  Many of the County’s top swimmers, their families and friends participate in or view the meets.  For the sponsorship fee, you can place a ¼ page ad in each meet program, display your banner, have your company acknowledged by our announcer during the meets, distribute brochures and/or sell your merchandise.  For those not selling merchandise, the cost of sponsorship at each of the three meets is $100.00.  For those choosing to sell merchandise at any of the invitational meets, the sponsorship cost is the greater of $100.00 or 15% of gross sales realized at the meet.  The sponsorship fees are used to defray meet costs.

Please be sure that I have your current address, phone number, and email address so that I can give you your handbook copies and contact you as necessary.

Thank you for your support.  I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
