Assistant Coache

The Inverness Forest Recreation Club located in Potomac, Md. is looking for an enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, assistant coach for its team of about 85 swimmers.  The Nessies will be in division H for the 2012 season. We’re looking for someone experienced and enthusiastic about:

• teaching the stroke mechanics
• coaching or swimming competitively
• guiding pre-teamers and teaching group swim lessons
• developing a fun, enjoyable environment

We like to have fun and maintain a family like atmosphere. Our coaches must demonstrate a love for the sport, the ability to motivate more competitive swimmers, and the desire to inspire our newer swimmers. They must also be willing to communicate their goals and training tips with the swimmers and their families.

Our coaches need to commit to a season that begins around Memorial Day and runs through the All-Star competitions (late July). We hold afternoon practices until MCPS schools close for the summer, and weekday and evening practices thereafter. Candidates must be willing to attend all practices, and work with the pre-team on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

We have both “A” and “B” teams with meets on Wednesdays and Saturday morning. Finally, we have a county-approved SSL program in which older swimmers, supervised by the coaches, teach swimming to our pre-team Nessies.

Our coaches  will be expected to participate in pep rallies, ribbon celebrations, and an awards banquet. We also host other team socials throughout the season.

We offer:
- Competitive salaries commensurate with experience
- Opportunity to earn extra income from swim lessons and lifeguarding
- An enjoyable, beneficial experience with swim parents eager to help!

If interested or for more information, please send a brief email containing your qualifications, references, and contact information to our swim team director. You may also attach a resume:
