2014 MCSL Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet

The MCSL Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet will be held at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Tuesday, July 8th. The meet will begin at 6:00 pm and the facility will be opened at 4:30 pm. The warm-up schedule is listed below:

There will be a 30-minute break after event #26 to allow for a warm-up period for swimmers in the breaststroke and butterfly events.

Swimmers may only warm-up in the Competition Pool during the designated warm-up periods. There will be NO other pools at the Center available for warm-up.

Map/Meet Layout for parking, spectator areas, T-Shirt pick-up, awards pick-up and Officials/Volunteer sign-in.

Practice Starts

Starting bocks will be used at this meet. For swimmers who are not familiar with starting off a starting block, the Swim Center will open the pool for “practice starts only” from 8:30 am to 9:00 am on the morning of the meet. Swimmers must be accompanied by and supervised by a coach, and should enter the facility through the main outdoor entrance.

Scratch Deadline and Procedure

If a swimmer, based on previous time rankings, expects they will be seeded in the meet and they either (1) do not plan on participating in the meet or (2) do not want to swim a particular event, they should scratch from the events they do not want to swim. Scratches for this meet will not be accepted after June 30th and must be submitted utilizing the MCSL Online Scratch process. MCSL is instituting a new Online Scratch procedure for this meet and swimmers and coaches should check the MCSL website for updates regarding the new process.

USA Swimming Sanctioned Meet 

This meet is sanctioned by Potomac Valley Swimming and USA Swimming and officiated by Certified USA Swimming Officials. Times swum by swimmers that are members of USA Swimming and are compliant with USA Swimming Rules are considered official USA Swimming times.

Check-in Procedures

There is no Clerk of Course utilized at this meet. All swimmers should report to their assigned lanes for their events. Alternates should check-in with the Deck Referee in advance of the event for which they are entered as an alternate. If there are empty lanes they will be placed in a lane. If there are empty lanes and no alternates present at the start of the event the lanes will not be filled.

Officials

Only USA Swimming Certified officials are eligible to work this meet. If you are interested in working the meet please indicate your interest by contacting Jim Garner at rules@mcsl.org

Timers and Other Volunteers

For all parents and coaches able to serve as Head Timer, Assistant Head Timer or a lane timer during the meet, please sign up using the MCSL SignUp Genius page.

Meet T-Shirts

Meet T–Shirts for this event are provided by Capital Sport & Swim. Shirts have been ordered for all swimmers and alternates (rank 1 thru 10) that are listed on the Long Course seeding posted on the web. Shirts may be picked-up by a team Representative, at the Awards table, during the meet. 

Meet Programs

Meet programs will be available at a price of $3.00 per program at the Program table which is located on the upper level just before you get to the steps going down to the Competition Pool.

Team Tents

Tents may be placed on the grassy areas behind the Officials tent. No tents will be permitted in the grassy area between the Competition and the upper Recreation pools.  

Parking

Entrance to the Centers parking lot is only through the easternmost (indoor pool) driveway and the exit is through the westernmost (outdoor pool) driveway.

A fee of $1.00 is charged for parking in the Center’s lot. You may drop someone off without paying the fee but you cannot park in the lot and must exit after dropping off. If you choose to park in the Centers lot only park in defined spaces. Do not make your own parking space. 

If you do not park in the Centers lot you may park on Martins Lane, the Rock Terrace School parking lot (do not park on their fields or grass) or in the Board of Education parking lot off of Mannakee Street. 

Do not park on the baseball field across the street from the Center or on side streets as this will likely result in you receiving a City of Rockville parking ticket.

Please assist the staff in making the parking operation a smooth one.

2014 MCSL All Star Relay Meet

Date, Location & Schedule 

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet will be held in two separate sessions at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Saturday, July 26th. Section I (Divisions A thru H) will begin at 7:00 am and Section II (Divisions I thru O) will begin at 10:00 am. The facility will open at 6:00 am. 

The entire pool will be available for general warm-up but only lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Competition area will be available for Starts and Sprints. The warm-up schedule for each Section is listed below: 

Section I

6:30 am thru 6:40 amGeneral Warm-up

6:40 am thru 6:55 am General Warm-up & Lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 open for Starts and Sprints 

Section II

9:30 am thru 9:40 am General Warm-up

9:40 am thru 9:55 am General Warm-up & Lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 open for Starts and Sprints  

With the exception of the Start & Sprint warm-up period in lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 all swimmers must enter the pool feet first. 

Continuous warm-up will be available throughout the meet at the far end of the pool (non-Competition area) but no Starts will be possible during continuous warm-up.  Feet first entry only!

There will be NO other pools at the Center available for warm-up.

If a relay team is seeded in the meet and does not plan on competing the Representative/Coach of that team should scratch the team from their event. Scratches for this meet must be submitted by 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 20th and must be submitted utilizing the MCSL Online Scratch process. MCSL is instituting a new Online Scratch procedure for this meet and Representatives/Coaches should check the MCSL website for updates regarding the new process. 

Check-in Procedures 

All coaches must pick up their relay cards from the Clerk of Course at the start of warm-ups. The relay card must be completed and returned to the Clerk of Course per the below schedule. 

Events Due To Clerk of Course

1 thru 4 20 minutes before start of meet
5 thru 8 No later than start of meet
9 thru 12 No later than start of Event 5
13 thru 16 No later than start of Event 9
17 thru 22 No later than start of Event 13

If a team does not turn in a completed relay card in accordance with the above schedule and an alternate team has been assigned the original team WILL NOT be allowed to swim the event.

Only relay cards must be returned to the Clerk of Course. Swimmers should report directly to their assigned lanes.

Officials, Timers/Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers 

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet requires the staffing of two full sets of Officials, Timers, Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers since the meet is run in two sessions – Section I and Section II. This meet is a unique event in that each Division swims approximately the same number of Relay teams. As a result, we need All Divisions to solicit volunteers and help staff the meet.

The All Star Officials/Volunteers Coordinator for each Division will be soliciting volunteers to work as Officials (Referee, Starter and Stroke & Turn Judges) as well Timers/Take-Off Judges. If you wish to work as an official, please contact the competition committee at competition@mcsl.org with the section you will be attending and your preferred assignment.  All other volunteers are asked to sign up using the following links:

Preliminary and Final Seeding’s

Preliminary All Star Relay Seeding’s for each Section will be posted in advance of the meet with Final Seeding’s posted by the Thursday before the Meet. If you identify errors or have questions regarding your teams seeding you should reach out to Bob Hincke at automation@mcsl.org. 

Meet T-Shirts

Meet T–Shirts for this event may be ordered in advance of the meet through Capital Sport & Swim. T-Shirts may be ordered for all Relay team members, that are listed on the All Star Relay seeding (including alternates) posted on the web. T-Shirts may be picked-up, by a team Representative, at the Capital Swim & Sport tent during the meet.

2014 MCSL Individual 
All Star Meet

The MCSL Individual All Star Meet will be held at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Sunday, July 27th. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 am and the first Event will start at 8:00 am. The facility will open at 6:30 am. 

The entire pool will be available for general warm-up but only lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Competition area will be available for Starts and Sprints. The warm-up schedule is as follows:

Lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 will be used for Starts and Sprints throughout the Warm-up session. All other lanes will be available for General Warm-up. All swimmers must enter the pool at the Start End only.
